Writing Challenge - Week 25

The next two weeks are going to have similar challenges but they are going to be completely different and should be a lot of fun. Today we are going to look back at a historical event that really captivates you. One that you just wish you could have been at. You won't actually be there so it will not affect your life whatsoever, you also can't change anything about the event. Think of it kind of like travelling with the Ghost of Christmas Past, but instead of your life it is any historical time you want. Feel free to do as much or as little research as you would like, you can choose to be as historically correct as possible or you can simply bend things to fit your story. (NOTE: If you decide to share this with people or publish it in some way, expect a backlash if it is not historically accurate, make sure to add a disclaimer to save yourself a lot of headaches!)

Mystery Theme Challenge #5 (Part 1)

Part 1?! What does this mean?! Well, it means that we liked this theme so much that we decided to break it into two. This theme isn't exactly a country but it is a region and it is so vast that there are so many different takes on it. For the next (and final) challenges, the Mystery Theme is The Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean is huge, and it has coastlines on two continents so each region has their own specific flavours and things they enjoy. This week we are exploring the European side of the Mediterranean. And this can be any country that is along the coast there. The Challenge is simple, make a meal inspired by a Mediterranean County.

To help inspire you, today we are sharing a Greek Spice Blend, this works great on vegetables or chicken!

1 tsp Dried Oregano

1 tsp Thyme

1/2 tsp Mint

1/2 tsp Basil

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Freebie Friday - Homemade Apple Sauce

Applesauce is like most things, it is always better when it is homemade. And when making anything it always changes based on personal preference. Today we are going to share with you the basics of making Applesauce and a few additions or alternatives that can help you find the exact applesauce for you!

To start you want a bunch of apples, it doesn't matter what kind, we recommend soft apples that may be passed their prime. This is a great recipe for the fall or winter months when apple season is ending. You can also can applesauce so it will last longer.

We made a large batch of applesauce but you can always make smaller batches to your needs. So first you want to peel the apples, core them, and cut them up into small chunks (we did four cups about, you can do two cups to half the recipe). Once they were all chopped up and in the pot, we added 2 cups of water and 3 cups of white sugar (for two cups of apples you can add 1 cup of water and 1 1/2 cup of sugar).

Creating Your Own Blanket

Today we are really going to look at what goes into making a blanket. The Mario graphs work well because the Mario Video Games are in what they call "8-bit". That means that it is all small little "box" that make up the image. And that is what a graph is. They are boxes coloured to make up an image. Those images can be small (like the Mario Graphs we are sharing this year), or quite large like a full blanket. But they all work on the same principle.

(Example of a Square Graph Grid)

Keeping this in mind, this will help you create layouts for your blankets with these Super Mario 2 Graphs. The main thing to remember is that you want to put the same sizes together. So if you are using a 25 x 50 landscape graph you need to match those measurements to make the blanket even. Now this doesn't have to be the exact same. For example, you can use two 25 x 25 graphs to make up the 50 side of the first graph. But you want to make sure everything lines up properly.
