Freebie Friday - Baby Hat

Today we are sharing a pattern for a cute Baby Hat. I crocheted this to match a Baby Cocoon I had crocheted and it turned out wonderful. So I decided to write the pattern out and share it with all of you! 

This baby hat can be made in a number of different sizes. Sizes will change based on size of hook. (Recommended hook size 3.5 mm – 5 mm.) In our example we changed colours on row 11 – 13 and added a Crab Stitch to finish off this is optional and can simply be replaced by repeating the steps in the same colour as previously.

The stitches required for this hat are:
    • Double Crochet (DC),
    • Crab Stitch (Optional),
    • Chain Stitch.


Begin by chaining two stitches. Crochet 12 Double Crochet Stitches into the second stitch from hook.

Round 1: Chain two. Place two Double Crochets in each stitch. (24)

Round 2: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in next stitch, crochet two Double Crochet in following stitch. Repeat until end. (36)

Round 3: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 4: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 5: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 6: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 7: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 8: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 9: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 10: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 11: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Round 12: Chain two, Double Crochet in same stitch. Crochet one Double Crochet in each stitch. (36)

Finish: Finish by doing a Crab Stitch around (optional).
