Steam

Steam is a free platform that allows gamers to download video games and software to their Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. Created by Valve the majority of computer games are found on Steam. You must purchase a game in order to play it. However, there are many free to play games which we will be discussing over the next couple of weeks.

Steam is the main platform for computer games with new games receiving same-day release on Steam as they would at a store such as Best Buy or Gamestop. Steam also offers a wide variety of classic games including MS-DOS games such as Doom and Quake and classic platformers such a Sonic The Hedgehog and Golden Axe. There are literally thousands of games to choose from with a sales always happening including the big winter and summer sales.

Steam also offers some software for different uses including FaceRig which allows you to change your face on a webcam to an animal or cartoon.

Steam also offers a 14-day return policy on games as long as it has under 2 hours of playtime. This is a service most brick and motor stores do not offer. Steam has changed computer gaming as we knew it made it a digital-only experience compared to having CD/DVD-Rom games.
