Basic Theme Challenge #1

So today we are going to start off with an easy one, just so everyone can get a sense of how these challenges work. Each week we are going to issue a "challenge". This will be just like the challenges you see on TV, some will have to do with ingredients, some will have to do with themes, etc. We want to try and make the challenges fun for everyone but also challenging of course. So don't worry if one seems too hard, there will be others better suited for you.

Today's challenge is simple, Beef. You can make any kind of dish you want as long as beef is the star of the show. Today we are sharing with you our recipe for our Cheesy Stuffed Hamburger Sliders.

Cheesy Stuffed Hamburger Sliders

1 lb Hamburger Meat (Ground Beef)

1 Package of Onion Soup Mix 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire Sauce

1 Lg Onion

1 Block of Cheddar Cheese (or your preferred cheese - cut into cubes - one per burger and the rest grated or sliced)

1 lb of Bacon

Slider Buns

In a large bowl combined the Meat, the Onion Soup, and the Worcestershire Sauce (you can also replace this with BBQ Sauce or Ketchup). Mix by hand until incorporated (depending on the fat content of the meat you may need to add breadcrumbs to help the meat bind).

There are two ways to form patties, you can either form one and make a pocket in the middle for the cheese that you then push the meat around (making a ball) and then flatten out. Or you can create two patties and but the piece of cheese in between both and combined them together (sort of like a pie crust). Do your best to make sure it is sealed well or the cheese will ooze out (this may happen anyways, which is natural).

As the burgers cook, cook up some bacon (in a frying pan or your preferred way of cooking it). We use Pepper Bacon but whatever you enjoy and can get your hands on is fine. Once the bacon has finished, pat the excess grease off and set aside. Using some of the bacon fat (leaving a little in the frying pan), fry some onions (adding a little butter if needed).

Once the burgers are close to being done cooking, top with shredded cheese and place in the oven (broil) to melt the cheese, or cover in a frying pan with the lid.

To assemble the burger we enjoy Ketchup and Mustard to start, followed by the patty, the fried onions and finally, the bacon.
