SORTedFood Youtube Channel

Today we are talking about one of our absolute favourite Youtube Channels and that is SORTEDfood. This channel really has something for everybody. It stars two chefs James and Ben and three "normals" Jamie, Berry and Mike. And they really tackle cooking from all angles. Whether you are a professional like James and Ben or just a home cook like the other boys, you can follow along with their recipes. They try to make it simple and something everyone can comfortably make at home. One of there "series" Like A Chef, really highlights this. Ben (for the most part), tries to show the average cook how to make restaurant-quality dishes and how easy it can be (Cheaper Cuts of Steak, Roasted Chicken, Easy Mac and Cheese, French Toast, Pasta, Omelettes).

They also have great videos about reviews they give for either products or devices or something food-related. They also started looking at DIY Food Kits thanks to the pandemic. They are located in London and a lot of local restaurants did that during the lockdown and they have some great episodes about that. But my favourite thing they do has to be the PASS IT ON episodes. This is where all of them take a turn at making a dish. It is hilarious to see everyone's thought process and it is interesting how a dish can start off as one thing and finish as something the original person would have never thought of.

Gordon Ramsay on Youtube

Most people know of Gordon Ramsay! How could you not, the man is everywhere, not only with amazing restaurants all around the world but with his TV shows. Whether you're a Hell's Kitchen fan, a Restaurant Nightmare's fan, a fan of Masterchef, or any other of his many shows, you know that this man knows what he is talking about when it comes to food. What you may not know is that he has a Youtube Channel (or at least there is a channel dedicated to him).

You can watch episodes of his popular shows there but you can also see a number of videos to help with cooking challenges. He has wonderful tutorials like How to Extract All the Meat from a Lobster, A Guide to Steak (more advanced), and Top 10 Tips for Cooking the Perfect Steak.

And along with those he has videos of meals. Like this one, Quick & Simple Dinner Recipes, Ultimate Guide to Quick & Easy Dinners, Dessert Recipes to Impress, and even an Ultimate Budget Food Guide.

If there is anyone you can trust when it comes to cooking, it is without a doubt, Gordon Ramsay.

Tutorial Thursday - Bon Appetit

This week we are sharing some of our favourite videos from Bon Appetit. Like the Epicurious video we shared last week, Bon Appetit has their Every Way series. And these are really informative and can be helpful. Some of the videos are a little silly, like Every Way to Cook a Tomato. I am not sure why you would need a special way to cook a tomato let alone 47 different ways but. . . to each their own.

The other ones though can be very helpful. Again they have some more comical methods but for the most part, they are very informative. They have Every Way to Cook a Chicken Breast, and that has different ways to cook chicken breast, and they have Every Way to Cook a Whole Chicken! Which can be really useful when you are just starting out or are just looking for a few ways to spice up chicken. They also have Every Way to Cook Salmon, Every Way to Cook Steak, Every Way to Cook a Hamburger, and Every Way to Cook Bacon.

One of my favourite though has to be Every Way to Cook a Pizza. I know most of these things you won't actually try or use but it is fun to see all the ways you can make a pizza if you ever get adventurous.

Tutorial Thursday - Epicurious

We are going back to Tutorial Thursdays. We used to do this when we first started the blog. This month they are going to be Tutorials that we found useful. And this is going to be all about food. This first post is about Epicurious on Youtube. Youtube is almost everyone's go to for tutorials and Epicurious has some great ones. Of note, they have a series that takes one thing and basically talks about how to do it. For example they have How to Frost Every Cake, or How to Crack Every Nut. These may not be the most useful in your day to day life but they are very educational should you want to try your hand at Cake Decorating or if you don't know how to crack some of your favourite nuts.

They do have other more useful ones like How to Open Every Shell Fish, How to Filet Every Fish, or How to Slice Every Fruit. These are great to know and they are nice for advance learners when it comes to cooking. If you want the freshes fish, especially shell fish, you need to know how to open them and care for them. So that is a great skill to know and it encourages home cookes to buy the freshest fish they can find.

But the reason I absolutely love this channel is because they have the basics too. I found thier videos really useful when I started cooking and especially when I started getting the HelloFresh boxes and seeing things I had never worked with or cooked before. My favourite is How to Chop Every Vegetable. And this will help you explore new produce and be able to get the most out of them and the video even suggests recipes to use them in.

They also have some for drinks! You can watch How To Make Every Cocktail and How To Make Every Coffee!
