Last month we talked about storage containers and how they play a large part in preparing meals And this month we are going to look at how they help save us time but also how they can help us make healthier choices and make it easier to grab a salad on the go.
These bowls are my absolute favorite. And they make preparing meals convenient. As you can see from the image above, I use them to make salads, and you can use whatever size is appropriate for the meal you are planning. (I use the big one for a family meal and the little ones for a lunch.) I find these bowls are so convenient. You can prepare salads ahead of time. I even throw a small glass dish of salad dressing into the bowl and a baggy of croutons (if you are adding them) into the bowl and put the lid on. You have everything in one place and you can just dump the final ingredients into the bowl, poss, and serve.
This idea is similar to a very popular one that went around for a while having to do with mason jars. Personally, I find that they are kind of small to make a salad (especially if you are adding a lot of fruits or vegetables), and the lettuce or greens get stuck in the bottom sometimes. But if that is easier and more convient that could work also for you!
No matter what you choose, I find that making a healthy meal ahead of time really encourages healthy eating. It is so much simpler to make a healthy choice when it is quick and easy. And nothing is quicker and easier than just grabbing a jar or bowl with everything in it and off you go.
