Scene Layout (Part 3) - Pillowcases!

 This is our final post for this month about all these layouts and such. We wanted to get this out early however so people can crochet the graphs accordingly. So as we said in the posts earlier this week, we are using the Mario Monday graphs for the Blanket (number 3), and we are going to use the graphs from Freebie Friday to make Pillowcases. One of the keys to making pillowcases to have the pillows you want to use on hand.

Once you know the size you want, you can crochet accordingly. We suggest using a size 6 hook (or a 5/5.5) to get the right size. To make sure you have the size you want, you can try measuring the chain before even starting the graph, against the pillow to see if the size meets the length of the pillow. If not you will want to size up your hook or move to a bigger stitch like C2C or mini C2C.

To make life easier we are going to figure out size first. So we are going to try and stick to something like the scarves. If you are comfortable you know what size you need you can feel free to make your pillows with a graph on both sides, this will give you two pillowcases. However, if you want to be sure we are going to start with either Toad or Princess Peach and we are going to crochet the back first. We are going to use C2C for this example simply because it is easier. Keep in mind how to C2C a rectangle (if you are using that stitch). Once you have your back and you have figured out what size you need, crochet your graph.

The remaining graph (Toad or Princess Peach) and be crocheted with our Bonus graph!! (You can find that later on this month.) For this example, we are going to use TSS (Tunisian) just so all options are covered. Again you want to make sure you have the right size. Create your chain and measure it against the length of your pillow. Once you have reached the size you want (keep in mind that you have to sew these graphs together so bigger is better), you can start the graphs.

And finally, we are going to finish with a Luigi and Mario multigraph pillowcase. We are going to use the HDC method for this one. Just like the Tunisian, you want to make sure you have the measurements of the pillow before starting.

Sewing the two together. You will sew these the same way you sew any graphs together. You may choose to border them first or simply sew together as is. You want to sew only three sides so you can get the pillow in!
