Cinder is the first book in the Lunar Series by Marissa Meyer and it follows a young sixteen-year-old cyborg. The Lunar Series is a new twice on the old fairy tales that inspired them. Cinder (inspired by Cinderella) is set in "New Beijing" a place were humans and androids crowd the streets and deadly plague ravages the population. This catches the attention of the "Lunar People" and they watch, waiting to make their move on Earth and it's people.
Cinder is sixteen-years-old and she is a cyborg. Like Cinderella, this seems to make her a second-class citizen in a world that could crumble any minute. And just like in Cinderella, there's a handsome Prince too. Without giving too much away, Cinder finds herself in the center of an intergalactic struggle and this attraction. Little does anyone know that she may be the key to saving the world.
