The fifth chapter shows the fall out of Cinder, Peony and Iko trip to the junkyard. In Chapter 4 we left off with Peony showing symptoms of Letumosis, the pandemic pledge that has been causing so much trouble for the world.
In this Chapter we get to see the process of what happens after Peony starts showing signs of the pledge. Though we have seen this process before in the market, it hits a little closer to home. Cinder is also worried she may not only have Letumosis but may have brought it home with her from the market. Though this turns out not to be true, it is clear that Cinder is and will continue to feel guilty about this.
